The role you’ll contribute: The Marketing & Communications Specialist oversees internal and external communication efforts including public and media relations in conjunction with the Director. He/she also oversees Connect (associate website) as well as AdventHealthOttawa. com. He/she must have writing and proofreading ability including knowledge of Associate Press style. The individual must be a creative, self-motivator with excellent communication skills due to frequent contact with hospital leaders, associates, community, media and physicians. This person also plans, executes and coordinates events for the hospital. He/she works closely with the Corporate Digital Team to execute the organization’s digital communication strategy, including posting on social media as well as monitoring and responding to all activity. Creates and updates collateral for physicians and services to incorporate consistency within the AH brand. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high stress are key characteristics for success in this position.   The value you’ll bring to the team: Implement communication plans provided by the corporate team, including digital and social media tools, to manage and improve the reputation of the organization.

Also create posts that apply to local market. Create and update advertising, publications, internet/intranet and other paid exposures for hospital projects and services and the organization, in addition to media relations, community relations, and communications. Update forms to be current with brand guidelines on hospital software programs. Positively represent organization at programs and functions to promote the hospital. Assist with media relations including proactive activities such as distribution of news releases, feature articles when needed and arranging interviews between hospital executives, staff, physicians, patients and the media. Maintain strong relationships with representatives of local media. Obtain and maintain signed release forms for video or photograph requests on the AH Ottawa premises. Ensure adherence to HIPAA guidelines. Create and work with print vendor to produce patient education materials such as the Guest Guide, Total Joint Book, Physician Guidelines and more as needed. Constantly assess situations that could potentially negatively impact AH Ottawa and discuss these issues immediately with the Director.

Stay abreast of current public relations, marketing and health care trends through study and through attendance and participation in selected seminars and conferences. Order promotional materials for events and as needed.
