Position Overview
ERS seeks a highly collaborative professional committed to utilizing their content marketing and distribution strategy skills to innovatively share resources and publications with new and existing audiences that lay the foundation for K-12 school transformation. This position will build upon existing ERS knowledge to publish innovative best practices that unlock excellence for every K-12 student. The Marketing Specialist will serve as a catalyst for change by publishing and strategically amplifying actionable, research-driven, and data-informed pieces that empower school district leaders to make changes that stimulate greater equity in K-12 education.
In tandem with subject matter experts, the Communications Team recently released the following publications: ESSER Guides for Scheduling and Spending , Spotlight on Dallas ISD , and op-ed about reimagining high schools . This innovative content continues to shape the K-12 education landscape in impactful, equity-focused ways.
Undoubtedly, the Marketing Specialist will embrace our core values of learning and teamwork to make a significant, direct impact on elementary and secondary education. Note: As a non-profit organization, we don’t love to use the term marketing . We’re not selling a product. Rather, our goal is to share critical knowledge with education leaders to positively impact K-12 learning outcomes . Therefore, in-house w e utilize distribution strategy in lieu of marketing strategy .    
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning

Utilize communications data to maintain a comprehensive content calendar for ERS publications that responds to the cyclical and emerging needs of K-12 school district leaders
Research and implement amplification strategies to optimize engagement with ERS content via our website, newsletters, social media, etc.
Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new vendors to support website redesign, graphic design, search engine optimization, etc.
Collaborate with sister organizations to amplify research, strategies, and resources by forging meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships
Establish and nurture relationships with media outlets to support the actualization of ERS’ strategic priority: increase the breadth of our audience to enhance our impact on educational equity

Content Creation

Collaborate with internal ERS staff and external partners to identify content opportunities, outline key points, and keep focused on content goals
Refine ERS’ internal branding and style guides to maintain value-congruence and align with current trends
Review and edit articles, web content, webinar decks, newsletters, guides, etc. to align content with branding guidelines, organizational messaging, and high-impact distribution strategies
Develop story pitches, respond to requests for interviews and data, and utilize strategies to share key messages in succinct, actionable ways with K-12 school district leaders

Project Management

Support the full-cycle work planning efforts of the Communications Team and external vendors by defining roles, responsibilities, deadlines, cycles of review, etc. to successfully execute the content calendar
Manage and balance multiple projects at the same time, ranging from large suites of content to individual publications
Maintain systems, structures, and workflows to effectively manage high-quality, timely content deliverables requiring significant collaboration from internal and external partners

Organization Contribution

Live ERS’ mission by developing and releasing high-caliber, innovative content that positively influences the K-12 education landscape
Serve in various ad-hoc leadership capacities (e.g., ERS retreat, ERS lunch facilitation, practice area participation, recruiting).
Continuously build an understanding of the diversity, inclusion, and equity dynamics affecting ERS’ work internally and externally; support and lead the process to bring in multiple perspectives to develop and enhance equity in our work

2-5+ years of experience with communications and content distribution strategy
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex material and effectively communicate ERS’ mission and impact to our target audiences in accessible ways
Demonstrated success optimizing engagement with various platforms, including websites, social media, press releases, newsletters, etc.; understanding of various communication channels and the required content and styles to ensure results
Preferred: Experience with content marketing, SEO, Google Analytics
Optional: Salesforce, HubSpot, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with K-12 education, educational policy, social policy, and resource use (with a proven ability and eagerness to learn new content areas and immediately put this knowledge to use)
Experience participating in complex distribution strategy work, including working with external partners; ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a growing, mission-driven team
