Sacramento, California, Senior Marketing Specialist Department Description The Department of Public Affairs and Marketing plans, manages and implements strategic communications (such as news services, public relations, marketing, internal and external communications) for UC Davis Health. Communications are aimed at a wide range of key constituencies such as: the news media; UC administration; UC Davis faculty, staff and students; government/regulatory leaders; external physicians; business leaders; patients and health care consumers; and the general public. The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis prepares successful leaders in health care. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities The Senior Marketing Specialist for the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing is responsible for all school-wide marketing efforts, including research, analysis and tools, and development of relevant policies and procedures. This position is responsible for planning, production, management, and consulting with school leadership on all marketing efforts to achieve School of Nursing objectives of growth in enrollment, employment, philanthropy, research, visibility, and brand awareness. The Senior Marketing Specialist ensures a marketing message and position consistent with UC Davis Health and the school’s mission while continually measuring return on marketing program investments.

Reporting to the Brand Marketing Manager, and in partnership with the Director of Brand Management and Marketing for UC Davis Health and the Dean of the School of Nursing or designee, functions with a high level of independence as the technical lead for all School of Nursing marketing and branding efforts. This position is responsible for ensuring that brand consistency for the School of Nursing across all audience segments (general public, alumni, community partners, donors or prospective students) is consistent. Position is as an adviser within the School of Nursing to the Dean and the senior leadership team. Required Qualifications At least five years of professional experience in marketing, with advanced skills in developing innovative marketing strategies Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, marketing, communications, or a related field and/or equivalent experience Advanced knowledge of marketing best practices and willingness to learn and apply new marketing concepts as they emerge Experience applying judgment, leadership, and decision-making skills to collaborate with executive leadership and guide individuals and committees in collective planning, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building Exceptional skills to initiate and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of persons both in and outside the School of Nursing, and to work in a highly matrixed, team-oriented environment. Working knowledge of graduate health education Demonstrated previous success with cross-channel marketing, and willingness to adapt to changes in existing tools and adoption of new tools Strong project management & skills to deliver on-time, on-budget marketing campaigns Advanced analytical, planning, forecasting, and researching skills Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal and political acumen skills Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders Communications skills to represent SON in meetings/presentations when applicable Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite Experience in resource allocation, including budget management and goal setting Experience with best practices related to paid media/advertising buys Demonstrated experience with reporting marketing metrics/analytics Experience managing and collaborating with freelance professionals and vendors, including printers, photographers, designers Knowledge of graphic design principles for collateral such as brochures and some digital projects Experience working in CMS for regular website updates, landing page creation Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and how to effectively utilize for marketing purposes Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of the mission, vision, and goals of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and understanding of its educational programs, with demonstrated ability to apply advanced marketing concepts to establish and expand the brand identity of the school and enhance overall visibility Working knowledge of project management software, preferably Wrike Website SEO (search engine optimization) best practices knowledge and related experience Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
